The Sunday School dilema

I had intended to post our study of Psalm 119. Last night we met and spent much of our time discussing, not Psalm 119, but Sunday School. I asked the question of some of our most loyal congregates "Why is our Sunday School program struggling so much?" On a good Sunday we will have about 27% of our Worshiping attendance in Sunday School. What mystifies me is that people who just a few years ago were at Church every time the door is opened, have to be dragged kicking and screaming back to anything happening at the Church. A quick check of google will show you that this is not an isolated issue.
An article at the Southern Seminary magazine, Said at Southern Seminary , shows a decline in Sunday School in the SBC beginning in the mid 90's. The BBC had an article back in 2000, showing the Church of England facing the same issue. Is Sunday School on the way out? Has Sunday School become an irrelevant way of teaching?
Share your thoughts with me on this subject. Is your Church still holding Sunday School classes? What are you all doing that is working and what is not working? Ask others to join this discussion.
