New Call
Posted on Wednesday, June 07, 2006 at 9:10 AM by David Zavadil
You may have noticed my silence recently. I have been busy, traveling, preaching and obtaining quotes from movers. I have received a call to serve as Senior Pastor of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I will be meeting with the Credentials Committee of the James River Presbytery this weekend, preaching and trying to find a temporary home. Pray for me and my family. I am shooting to have the family moved to the area early July, so things are hurried right now.
On the Blog side, this change will do a number of things. 1.) I will be able to be more regular in posting. 2.) It will change some of the info that is posted, so look for some new content changes. 3.) When I change, I change, so look for some changes in the look of the site. All suggestions will be welcomed. My hope is to provide more content that will touch hearts and lead to Christ.

Books I am reading and Have read recently
Posted on Wednesday, June 07, 2006 at 9:35 AM by David Zavadil
In my last few weeks with little to do, I am trying to read as much as I
can. I have recently read John Stott's Basic Christianity. I
know, "you haven't ever read that book?" Forgive me, for I have sinned.
I did enjoy the book and will use it in my future ministry. It is a
must read for all Christians and would make a great resource in
discipleship and assimilation. The title tells the story. Stott, takes
the reader through the basic doctrines of the Christian faith.
Apologetic and yet winsome, he leads the reader to the cross of Christ
and leaves you there, contemplating the work of grace in Christ. If,
like me, you haven't picked up this classic, do so today! I give it
out of 5.
I have also read Harry Reeder's From Embers to a Flame.
Subtitled "How God can revitalize your Church." Reeder wastes no time
taking the reader to the Scriptures to illustrate how the Bible speaks
to revitalization. Not as much a how to book as it is a starting point
for leading revitalization in your Church. I look forward to the
upcoming conference as a result of the book. Check out
Embers to a Flame . I give this book a
out of 5.
I am currently reading:
Women's Ministry in the Local Church by J. Ligon Duncan and Susan Hunt and Holiness by Grace by Bryan Chapell

It is now official. I am the Pastor of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. My first Sunday will be on July 9, 2006. Since I am in the process of packing and moving, I will not post anything further for the next two weeks. I will resume a regular posting schedule on the week of July 9, 2006. Look for new studies, sermon outlines, book reviews and other great information in the near future.
